## In customers' own words
_Verbatim quotes from this contractor's public reviews, each attributed to its source:_
> "Brian was very responsive regarding quite a lot of masonry work on my front steps. We have a heritage house so we wanted to keep the original look as much as possible. His team was very easy to work with and the work they did was excellent."

> "The job was completed well since Brian and crew were well equipped, punctual, and didn't encounter any unexpected setbacks. We appreciated the work being completed before the frost sets in."
> Source: Anonymous (5.0, via HomeStars)

> "Brian and his crew arrived on time and worked meticulously for three days in a row. They set up the scaffold securely then prepared the site for the repair work properly. I have a prefab chimney whose siding and underlying plywood become worn out. They removed them and installed Denshield boards, authintic bricks, coping and cap then fill up the joints. They then installed new flashing around the chimney base, cleaned up the site and dismantlled the scaffold. They also disposed the garbage. I am impressed with their workmanship and would highly recommend them to homeowners who need their chimney to be repaired or rebuilt."

## Before you hire a bricklayer / mason
_What to check when choosing this kind of trade (general guidance, not a claim about this business):_
- Trade licensing in Canada is set by each province or territory. Electrical, gas and plumbing are licensed trades almost everywhere (for example ESA for electrical and TSSA for gas in Ontario), so check your provincial regulator that the contractor is certified for the work before you hire.
- A construction lien is a real risk: in every province an unpaid subcontractor or supplier can register a lien against your home even if you already paid the main contractor. Hold back the statutory amount (commonly around 10%) and get signed lien waivers as you pay.
- Ask to see a portfolio of completed work like yours, plus recent references you can contact.
- Check the credentials and registrations that matter for this work, and that they are current.
- Get a written, itemized quote with scope, assumptions and a staged payment schedule.
