## In customers' own words
_Verbatim quotes from this contractor's public reviews, each attributed to its source:_
> "I was very happy that Damon was able to replace rotted wood on my deck without having to tear down and rebuild the whole deck (as others had advised). He did a good job and he was very cost-conscious."
> Source: Kelly Lynne Ashton (5.0, via HomeStars)

> "Damon was great from the beginning to the end. He presented as a very professional and knowledgeable worker, who is both a Jack-of-all-Trades and a master of them. He is someone you can trust - he even refunded me when I over-paid. His work was very good and reasonably priced. I thoroughly recommend him."
> Source: David (5.0, via HomeStars)

> "Damon texted me right away, and immediately arranged to show up the next day. I won't penalize him for going to the wrong address - he showed up anyway, got the job done cleanly, and even helped me plop the new toilet on the bolts/wax. Thanks Damon!"

## Before you hire a plumber
_What to check when choosing this kind of trade (general guidance, not a claim about this business):_
- Agree the call-out fee, the hourly or fixed rate, and whether parts are charged on top, in writing, before an emergency plumber starts. Out-of-hours overcharging and 'while I'm here' add-ons are common complaints.
- Be wary of a plumber who, on a first visit, says your whole system or boiler must be replaced. Get a second opinion and an itemized quote (parts and labour separately) before agreeing to major work.
- Gas work is licensed separately from general plumbing in every province. Make sure anyone working on a gas appliance or gas line holds the gas certification your province requires, and ask for proof of that certification before they start.
- Trade licensing in Canada is set by each province or territory. Electrical, gas and plumbing are licensed trades almost everywhere (for example ESA for electrical and TSSA for gas in Ontario), so check your provincial regulator that the contractor is certified for the work before you hire.
- A construction lien is a real risk: in every province an unpaid subcontractor or supplier can register a lien against your home even if you already paid the main contractor. Hold back the statutory amount (commonly around 10%) and get signed lien waivers as you pay.
