_Verbatim quotes from this contractor's public reviews, each attributed to its source:_
> "Jim and his team built a detached garage in my backyard and did an awesome job. Jim works to very high quality standards; he’s a pleasure to work with and I can recommend him without hesitation. I hope to do more projects with him in the future."

> "We worked with Jim of JB Contracting this summer to have the two story porch on our century home rebuilt. We had been trying to get someone to rebuild this porch for two years, but didn't find the right fit until JB Contracting. Jim is a master of his craft and meticulous in everything he does; he wow'd us with his knowledge of the correct architectural styling as well as his own design ideas to really make the front of our house shine. He took our rotted out porch from giving 1970s frat house vibes to a stunning, handcrafted statement piece in the appropriate second empire / craftsmen style. Jim and the crew (Joey, Alex, and Alberto) worked tirelessly on this project and were beyond respectful of the fact that we had a newborn baby sleeping throughout the day right where they were working. They made sure to check in every day to see how we were feeling with the project. Jim's communication is clear, thoughtful, and we'd work with them again any day!"

> "I recently had my 38 yr. old pressure treated deck demolished and a new one completed (same format) by JB Contracting and his crew Joey and Alberto. The final product I couldn't be happier with. Truly appreciated watching Jim & Alberto brainstorm their combined ideas and coming up with a far superior way to reroute my downspouts using a combination of my current aluminum ones and adding 4" white PVC piping in a new configuration. Jim's son Joey showed great pride working with his Dad and Alberto. The work was done to their usual excellent workmanship and all while having to deal with rain showers and temperatures of 40 C. All three have a great work ethic and all with a sense of humor and need to please their customer foremost. I am deeply thankful to them. I would highly recommend them if you're looking for a high quality project, by a great crew. (taxes additional)"

## Before you hire an HVAC contractor
_What to check when choosing this kind of trade (general guidance, not a claim about this business):_
- Trade licensing in Canada is set by each province or territory. Electrical, gas and plumbing are licensed trades almost everywhere (for example ESA for electrical and TSSA for gas in Ontario), so check your provincial regulator that the contractor is certified for the work before you hire.
- A construction lien is a real risk: in every province an unpaid subcontractor or supplier can register a lien against your home even if you already paid the main contractor. Hold back the statutory amount (commonly around 10%) and get signed lien waivers as you pay.
- Confirm they cover your area and can actually come out in your timeframe before anything else.
- Read recent reviews for reliability and turning up on time, not only the quality of the work.
- Agree the call-out fee up front, and be wary of large upfront deposits for an emergency job.
