1) for a general contractor that says he`s been in business for 11 years, I was wrong to take his word for it, instead of asking for references. My 1st error. 2) when the person tries to deposit 3 post-dated cheques by using his phone app, and the total amount goes through my account 2 days later, I panicked until I asked what he did. He has very little banking experience. This should have been my 2nd clue... 3) When you sub-contract, using non-verified labour, you are taking a big chance on distaster in the making. The demolition crew almost destryed a common wall, diod not have the necessary bin for dumping a tub & toilet, along with the old bathroom`s ceramic walls and floor, instead loading it all in a 30 year old rusted out van. And it continued downhill from there, until the ceramic installer came in to do a fabulous job for the wow factor. If it were not for his great work, I was on the verge of requesting the complete job be redone due to one major error; the contractor that was hired to do the plywood, gypsum, plumbing and electrical (a jack-of-all-trades, but master of none) was asked to stop working and get replaced after 2 weeks because he installed the sliding glass tub doors WITHOUT first making sure the bath tub was level. He had to be replaced by a master electrician for the errors in wiring, and the the doors had to be shimmed by 3/4 inch at one end. All the above took 4 weeks instead of the less than two that was forecasted. A living nightmare I never want anyone to experience again. Yes, there was plenty of effort, but it was rushed and it was sloppy. Pay the 15% more and get a professional outfit. Thank you
