About Picnic Design Inc.

Picnic is a Toronto-based architecture studio headed by founding principals Joanne Lam and Eric Martin. We are of the mind that architecture, interior and urban design are a single integrated discipline. We place our emphasis on enhancing the value of good design for all of our clients. Every client has their own story and every space its inherent character, which is why we approach each project on its own merit. We are inspired by not only our travels through the different regions of the world but also by the challenges and opportunities that surround us daily, at home, at work, and sometimes somewhere in the middle. Our approach is based on having a sound understanding of the site, context and end-user. Our experience ranges in scale from urban design and small buildings, to interiors, custom furniture and products. Rather than rely on any formula for the creative process, we allow each situation to emerge with its own logic and opportunities. With our sister company North of Modern Inc., we are excited to be developing ideas and prototypes for residential furniture, lighting concepts and smart-home products intended for manufacture. Boxr - our first product - is a smart bench with secure storage that lets homeowners receive deliveries securely on their front porch without compromising on privacy or curb appeal.
