Highlights

Ive always been happy with the service from ARS. Ive used them now on 3 separate occasions and, each time, they have knowledgeable and courteous technicians come to my home. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend ARS, and will definitely call again if I need to.

LG fridge repair, took LG up on the special labour rate. Wish I knew if I saved money or not. Lol

AnonymousHomeStars5.0 rating

It was a little expensive. However, the entire process was very thorough, with minimal interactions but extensive communication from the beginning to the end. Very efficient service!

Unpleasant diagnostic visit

My wife had a very unpleasant experience during our recent service visit. From the moment the repair person entered our home, his demeanour was aggressive and demanding. As my wife tried to explain the issues with our double wall oven, he acted dismissively, giving off the impression that she didnt know what she was talking about. For example, when she mentioned that when the over was set to 450, oven was actually operating at 300 degrees, he questioned her with unnecessary scepticism: "How do you know the oven was at 300 degrees?" When she explain that she knew this to be true by reading from a hanging temperature gauge visible through the glass his response was a smirk. Bottomline is that shes been using this oven for over five years and knows what issues we're experiencing with the oven. The least he can do is listen for a few minutes as she describes the issues she's had with the ovens and fridge. She shouldnt have to feel interrogated by a stranger in her own home. Before proceeding with any work, he demanded that she sign a waiver absolving him of any responsibility for damages he may cause. My wife, who is a lawyer, understandably wanted to take her time to review the document thoroughlyespecially since the technicians behaviour had already made her uncomfortable. Instead of respecting her decision to not sign immediately, he became visibly agitated and insisted she sign. When she resisted, he refused to continue, abruptly packed his tools, and announced he would bill us for both appliances (even though he didn't look at the second over and barely looked at the fridge). At this point, my wife was so upset that she called me. While I was on the phone trying to address the situation, the technician repeatedly interrupted me, cutting me off mid-sentence. I told him that I didn't refuse to sign, but he showed no interest in resolving the issue. He responded by saying "your WIFE refused to sign". I would have considered talking to my wife to go through the contract and decide together if we'd sign, but there was no option as he was mostly packed by this point-- he left, leaving behind his dirty plastic boot coverings for us to dispose of. Did we get a diagnostic report? No. Did we get billed? You bet. Enjoy the $200. This is the firstand lasttime well be dealing with ARS.

Microwave Repair

Raman and the ARS were called in to service an LG microwave that was just outside of warranty. LG stepped up and covered the repair. Raman and the ARS executed it extremely well. The communication was excellent, the service courteous and professional and the experience was far exceeded expectations. Above and beyond service!

3rd time might be the charm i hope

LG warranty repair. 1st visit (Friday night) 3 days after calling Assurion for warranty repair. COMPRESSOR REPLACED (a lot of huffing and puffing and lighting and relighting his propane torch) -morning after not cooling. call again (Saturday) and put on "excalation list. "3 - 5 business days quoted. Tuesday I have to call. - technician will be out in 3-5 business days. 2nd visit (Friday night again) he sees compressor leaking and super hot. says the cooling fan that cools the frigerant is not working. "Will see if part is in stock and come out "ASAP"" called ARSE today (Tuesday) 9:55am on hold for 45 minutes then call hung itself up. called again now 1:30pm. "yes part is in, but we already set the schedule for technicians, IF YOU CALLED BEFORE 10AM we would have sent a technician tomorrow, but it will be Thursday" Bad customer support. EXCALTION MEANS NOTHING. WILL NOT USE THIS COMAPNY AGAIN IF I HAVE A CHOICE.

Money up front for no service

We reported a faulty washing machine, using the description "no matter what size the load the machine dances around the laundry room." We had to wait ten days for the technician to turn up. The "technician" arrived and, chatted with me and carried out his tests, which included checking that the machine was level by placing his measure on the curved control panel. He then ran a spin cycle, with an empty machine. He told me it could be either the struts or shock absorbers, he called his supervisor, they came to a joint conclusion, he left. I had heard nothing so I called the office Feb 27th. and was told that the "joint conclusion" the technician and his manager came to was that there was nothing wrong with the machine. He did not tell me this before he left. Had he done so I would have insisted on doing a spin/rinse cycle with a few items in the machine while he watched. How can a technician and his supervisor come to the conclusion nothing is wrong if they haven't carried out the proper tests?? Several email later, one which included the fault notification video from the machine they concluded that we were loading the machine incorrectly. A few more emails and they sent us a quote for $1224.69 for parts for a machine which had no faults. I have asked for a refund of the initial charge but so far have received no response.

A complete waste of time and money

I purchased "LG Out of Warranty Support" to repair my dryer on Tuesday and filled out all of the details including the error code, technician was scheduled for Monday the next week. On Monday got a call that the technician couldn't make it, and they have to reschedule to Wednesday. On Wednesday the technician came and said that they don't fix that error code. So after a whole week, two days off work staying at home waiting for the technician, my dryer is still not working and I paid for the privilege the learn that "Ars Repair & Installation" does not deal with my specific error code. They could have just refused the original support request that contained the error code, but they decided to waste my time and money.

Unethical

Website says free service call with repair. No viable repair options provided, charged me for $120 + hst for 2 minutes of work. Then quoted me another diagnostic fee of $400 or more with no guarantee that they can figure out what's wrong with it.

Dishwasher

I contacted LG out of warranty repair for an error code on my dishwasher. They connected me with ARS, when the technician came he claimed that he cannot disconnect the power to the dishwasher to remove it and also would not disconnect the water supply or drainage. He suggested I call an electrician and plumber to have this done for them to do any work. How is this a reasonable request of a customer to repair a dishwasher? How would he know his "repairs" worked if he can't remove or reconnect these basic elements of a dishwasher?

Washer

Today, Amir from ARS repairs was our technician to fix our LG washer. He was on time, very knowledgeable, very helpful, and knew exactly what the problem was and how to fix it. I was very pleased with the repair service. This is the second time I have called the company and 2 for 2 they provided great service. Thank you ARS.

Repair of LG washing machine

I contacted LG for flat rate Out of Warranty Support and ARS was one of the possible service providers. They came with parts in hand so they could complete the repair with one visit. I was pleased with their prompt but thorough service. The service person made the repair and tested in a couple of different ways to make sure it has resolved the issue. Thanks ARS!

Bad Washer Repair Experience

We were directed to ARS by Samsung after our parent's 3-year-old Samsung washing machine broke down. We scheduled an initial appointment that cost nearly $300, with the assurance that the amount would be credited toward the repair charge if we proceeded. After diagnosing the issue as a defective mainboard, we were eager to move forward with the repair. However, we've encountered ongoing delays due to the unavailability of the replacement part. This has left us with a non-functional washing machine and a growing pile of unwashed laundry. Despite following up weekly, our efforts have yielded no results. Adding to our frustration, the receptionist's demeanor has been consistently unprofessional and discourteous. In hindsight, had we known about these challenges, we would have reconsidered spending almost $300 on the initial appointment. This situation increasingly feels questionable, and we caution others to steer clear of this company if they find themselves in a similar predicament.

Honest Excellect Service

Outstanding service. Just outstanding. Ilya showed up on time, diagnosed the problem, showed me all the missing parts, the improperly installed roller, the defective 7-year-old parts I paid to replace but were just left there just 3 days prior by a different company who ripped me off for more money than this company charged me for the excellent service they actually DID in fact perform. My dryer was sabotaged by the previous company to act like it needed a motor because they were trying to rip me off again. Ilya proved I did not need a new motor at all and also corrected a fire hazard the other company ignored when he cleaned out a mountain of lint that had gathered on top the heater. You can trust ARS and Ilya to do an honest, and thorough and fairly priced job on your appliance repairs.

Samsung Drier Repair

Tried to book appointment to have them come fix my Samsung Dryer. They refused to book an appointment without me first offering them my credit card. They will not give you an appointment time until one day prior. Very poor time management expectations and very little respect for customers time. Expect me to take a whole day off from work and sit around waiting for their technician to arrive. I have complained to Samsung to remove them from their authorized repair companies list.

Trade licensing in Canada is set by each province or territory. Electrical, gas and plumbing are licensed trades almost everywhere (for example ESA for electrical and TSSA for gas in Ontario), so check your provincial regulator that the contractor is certified for the work before you hire.
A construction lien is a real risk: in every province an unpaid subcontractor or supplier can register a lien against your home even if you already paid the main contractor. Hold back the statutory amount (commonly around 10%) and get signed lien waivers as you pay.
